2013 ARRL January VHF Contest
The Martinez ARC used the first hour of the contest as an exercise for relatively new hams in using FM simplex frequencies. It was a good experience for the newer hams, since there were a number of experienced contesters on the air all around the San Francisco Bay area and Sacramento Valley using FM on multiple bands.
Activity was about average on Saturday, although we experienced a nice six meter opening late in the evening. States worked included AZ, NM, CO, UT and NE.
Sunday's activity tapered off toward noon as the SF 49ers played to get into the Super Bowl. The bands stayed verrrry quiet through the second playoff game, coming to life again only in the last few hours of the contest.
