2013 ARRL Field Day

06/30/2013 | N2JFS

This year the Halifax Emergency Communication Krew had three "memebers' in the team. We activated the Central Halifax Amateur Operated Systems with a single, 33 foot, aluminum pole. It worked OK for the intended 40 and 20 meter operation. The, long time trusted, HECK battery decided to fail two minutes into the operation an undersigned's car battery had to rescue the situation. (Talking about "emergency".)

Our long time trusted station set-up worked FB witha home brewed antenna tuner, a 12 V battery and an IC706 (in its original condition with original settings). As we spend more time with air QSO-s we did  not hit any top-of-the-list position, but that is now not our goal in life. Spending 24 hours in the nature, fighting pile-ups, mosquitos and the famous VT black flies gives us the frill.

See (hear) you next year.
