2013 ARRL 10 Meter Contest
I've been participating in this contest for decades, and this was easily the best outing I've had. Northern Wisconsin is a tough HF contesting location, but there was no shortage of DX for the entire 2 days. It was easier to get multipliers in Europe than in the US; so many signals in the morning I had to turn off my receive preamp and use the attenuator to sort out the signals.
I couldn't seem to hear the US stations out 500 miles or so from me, but both coasts were loud, especially out west. Plenty of JAs and VKs, but I only heard one ZL, who I couldn't quite get through to. My station is modest: 100 watts and a 3 element beam up only about 15 feet. I worked a QRP station on the west coast who was louder than some full power stations I heard. Love that 10 meter band...when it's open, that is.
This is the first time I've broken the 100,000 point mark.
