2014 ARRL Straight Key Night
Not a whole lot of QSOs this year but they were memorable and unique. The rig used was my DX-100-B and HQ-150 receiver. The straight key was a Speed-X type and a WWII vintage Navy Vibroplex bug. My more recent CW activity has been with a paddle and keyer, so getting used to making my own letters with multi-DAH characters was quite a challenge in getting used to.
My most memorable SKN QSO was with Roger, K1MBX, of Rutherfordton, NC, whom I heard calling me randomly. ( I previously held the call- W1MBX) This was reminiscent of our first QSO held 67 years ago when I first heard Roger calling CQ on the Novice band. When I called him back, he thought someone was using his call! We have remaind friends over all these years.
