2014 ARRL International DX Contest (CW)
We were hoping that this would be our big year, after 6 years of construction and 4 years of antenna litigation. We assembled among the best CW ops and planned a M/2 that would set some records.
Murphy visited us in many forms. We had a 40 hour wind storm that destroyed the top 3 element 80M beam and broke the rotator chain drive. Armstrong rotating a 175' monopole that weighs in at about 30,000 pounds was more than we could handle.
Inside, we had amplifier problems and power failures. Undaunted, the team of N6TV, N6XI, N5KO and N5RZ put in a heroic effort. As always, we learned much and had a great time.
