2014 ARRL Field Day

06/30/2014 | W0CA Well Field Day 2014 is over, so sad. We had fun this year with 8 Barc Jr s and parents, 10 visitors, Rip and Ellie, 1Past Barc Jr (Thanks Austin), 3 Elmers that have no Jrs, our section manager Jack Ciaccia, and last but not least our coffee man Gerry with his trusty pal London.
We set up a spider beam at 30 feet, a 2 element beam for 40meters at 30 feet, a 8 element beam for 6 meters and an inverted v at 60 feet for 80 meters. So how did this all play? Well the final totals are not in yet but we made over 600 QSOs. We had 5 kids on the radio who had never done this before and some are just naturals at this.
We owe a special thanks to Dan N0NLS for his fine work in keeping us fed, no carry out pizza for us. The food was superb.
Brady age 14 did an awesome job in writing new logging software for us and making sure it was interfaced with the radios and that it all worked and was up for the challenge.
Thanks again for all the fine help setting up and taking down. It was a great Field Day. Only 365 more days till we get to do it again.
