2014 ARRL Field Day
We ran Class 3F at the Effingham County 911 Multi Agency Response Center, near Guyton, Georgia. Approximately 18 persons attended including the local emergency manager for the county. This was our second time at this facility and attendance was markedly up from last year. Operators were:
NT4TH Todd, KA4KOE Philip, WD4AFY Andy, KC4MKD David, KK4TXZ Mark, AF4VH Val, KI4TYO Ken.
Our very first contact was with W1AW/9 on 10m. 15m was IFFY at best. 10m was downright poor. 6m was non-existent.
In general, it was a low key field day with good company and many lessons learned:
1. Antenna placement was tweaked.
2. Foldable solar panels need bricks to weigh them down so the wind won't flip them over.
3. Dominos Pizza takes over 2 hours to deliver on a Saturday evening.
4. Chinese takeout is relatively quick (note Item 3).
