2014 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2014 | W6ICR

Imperial County Amateur Radio Operators conducted Field Day inside the Imperial County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The outside temperature was approximatley 108F. However, it was a cool 78F inside the EOC. The station consists of two Icom 746 Pro's and two Icom 910's. This year we used a dipole and vertical antenna's. We used a "halo" antenna for six meters recently installed by Hector Garcia AD6D/XE2K. Hector also hooked up the interfaces and "fine tuned" the logging program. Our operators were Larry Teran KI6YAA, Larry Smith WA6LAW, Bill Reynolds KB6DL, Francisco Cazarez N6CRX and myself, Dennis WB6CGJ who operated CW. We made approximatley 550 contacts. Our thanks to our San Diego section manager, Steve Early AD6D, his XYL Darlene KG6GQT, and their trusty K9 Dash K9DSH for making the 120 mile drive to visit our Field Day Site. We all had a "BLAST"!!! See you all next year ADIOS and 73.
