2014 ARRL Field Day
The North Shore Radio Club had another great Field Day this year. Once again we held it at the Grove Cultural Center field in Lake Forest, IL. The weather looked and sounded theatening a couple times during the day on Saturday but fortunately each time the storm cells drifted by and missed us completely. We operated 3A with two CW stations and a phone station. In addition we had a 6M station and a very active GOTA station. All radios were Elecraft K3s except for the 6M station which was an Icom IC-746. Antennas were individual band dipoles, a 2 element 40M yagi at 45 ft. and a 4 element 6M yagi at 45 ft. I am pleased to report that we had many visitors give the GOTA station a try, especially young visitors. I think we had more visitors this year than we have ever had. Last year we had a problem with some very bad power line noise and we were quite relieved to see that it was gone this year so I think our over point score will show it. This is our club's most popular annual event and we are all looking forward to next year.
