2014 ARRL June VHF Contest
This was a vacation style operation from Avon, NC on the Outer Banks Islands.
Brought down an aluminum tubing dipole and borrowed an Arrow cross-polarized
yagi for 144/432 MHz. from the friendly hams living full time on the island.
The radio was my IC-7000. The antennas were mounted on the upper balcony.
Quite a bit of line noise on 6 meters both days; apologies to those I could not
hear through the noise.
I guess with 6 meters open so much on Sunday few were on 2 meters. I expected
to hear more there but for me at this location, the band was dead. Perhaps no
one turned the beams this way. Thank goodness 6 opened up as it did or it
would have been quite a boring event. I was very pleased to experience a bit
of a run Sunday evening on 6 SSB up to the northwest.
Thanks for all the QSOs and good time.
