2014 ARRL School Club Roundup - October
The October 2014 "School Club Roundup" was one for the ages. The students of the LASA High School Amateur Radio Club (in Austin, Texas) now definitely know what "10 meters is wide open" really means. One minute they were speaking with Oklahoma, and the next they were contacting Belgium. Amazing and fantastic band conditions.
This is the students' favorite activity of the semester. And, it is always great to hear new schools on the air. Of course, it would not be possible without the many, gracious hams that stop by to make contact with the kids. With each new place and each new contact, the smiles increased throughout the week. "We got Morocco!" -- "We got Saudi Arabia!", etc.. By week's end, the QSO total reached almost 1,000, with 48 states, 49 countries, and 47 schools. A record-breaking year, for sure.
K5LBJ hopes to make contact with you or your school next time. Until then, 73. -- Ronny, KC5EES (Trustee, K5LBJ, the LASA HS ARC)
