2014 ARRL 160 Meter Contest
After 50+ years as an amateur radio operator, this contest was my first significant 160M activity. I had had better locations for 160M antennas, but now I'm in a community with covenents. :( Still, I'm on the air with workable antennas.
I checked my inverted-L "in the woods" and found that a tree limb had snagged the horizontal leg, but the antenna was operational. My automatic tuner (also in-the-woods) gave me a great SWR. It was a good day to be inside and operating - cold rain for most of the time. The gear even cooperated. :)
In any case, it was fun to really exercise the band and listen to detect how the propagation was changing. Needless to say, I'll be back.
73, Mike
