2014 ARRL 10 Meter Contest
Reduced the antenna 'farm' to one antenna and used one transmitter this year. Wasn't expecting much activity, but had some excitement. Logging computer 'crashed' and ate the simple dupe sheet and log for Saturdays activity (Windows ME). Luckily, had scribled written log sheets to carry on. Sorry for all the 'dupe' contacts on Sunday. My DOS machine not available.
Very casual contest this year. Seemed as though everyone was having some sort of 'fun', helping a new operator enjoy their first contest experience, or trying to figure out why beaming towards Europe brought west coast signals in better. Then there was the echoing of voices, and callsigns in places where they shouldn't be, ie #1s in Arizona, #3s in California, and SP4's in W1 area.
Limited European and South American contacts into my area. But then again, I dind't start until 10AM local time each day. Hawaii was booming in all weekend..Heard Australia/New Zealand and Alaska, and some other 'rare' ones. Not many local stations worked, couldn't hear them if there were any..Band shuts down at 6:30pm, or so.
Station was an antique Yaesu FC-301 and an old TA-33jr beam with a 'powerful' 40 watts out. (Old but it works, usually.)
