2015 ARRL Straight Key Night
Lost count of how many SKNs I've participated in but it never seems to lose its attraction. Made 8 SKN contacts, first with long time (25 years) radio friend Mike AC5P in OK. Used two different rigs: WW2 GO-9 transmitter (95 watts out) with a BC-348Q receiver, and a 1947 Millen 90800 crystal controlled 6L6/807 transmitter (20 watts out) with a 1938 National HRO. Keys were a 1916 Signal Electric Navy 2KW spark key, a Signal Electric R-68 practice key from the early 30s, and a 1950s Vibroplex Original speed key. These rigs are real workhorses, providing reliable near-daily communications. SKN is always a blast, thinking about next year's key lineup, maybe some flameproofs!
