2015 ARRL Kids Day - January
Wow, this brought back memories for control op Dad (K9IG). Twenty five years ago I had my oldest daughter in the shack for one of the first Kids Day/SquINT operating events. Alyssa is now 25 and KB9THU. This time around we had our youngest in the shack for the first time, Gwen, age 4, and she was a natural.
She enjoyed every QSO and did her best. She practiced making QSO's before the event and did well when she finally got on the radio. Gwen lastest for a full 60 minutes before asking for some play time. I was honored to get her in the shack for that long. She did come back later in the day as she had hearf a station in HI on and wanted to say HI to an island :)
Gwen has had a blast getting QSL's after the event and the big honor of receivng her operating certificate!
Overall we had great success with a 4 year old at the mic. She did great, made mom and dad proud and had a great times in the process. We shall see you in the next Kids Day!
