The February SCR was a tough one in Pilot Station we lost the first two days to high winds which kept knocking our antenna over and Thurs-Fri we lost our classroom due to a basketball tournament. Wednesday was quality day as we were able to make a few contacts and had a celebrity visitor to the station while we were operating. Ariel Tweto from "Flying Wild Alaska" was speaking at our school as part of her "bursting bubbles" motivational speaking tour. I told her about how I was "bursting bubbles" with amateur radio by expanding the kids world view by having them talk all over the world as part of our afterschool radio club. She came int our classroom just before she had to leave to go to her next stop and while I was explaining the set up and SCR she sat down with the kids, picked up the script and started calling CQ. We had no responders but seeing her jump in and try was inspiring to the kids who are a little "mike shy".
