I was relicensed in 2009 after being QRT for ~40 years.  Other than a single Field Day GOTA contact 2 years prior, I had never operated in a Field Day event.

I got excited about the idea of putting together an emergency power, backyard Field Day station about 2 months before the event.  I purchased a solar panel trickle charger, a second, 35AH sealed lead acid battery, an MFJ battery booster and a custom designed "W7JZE FIELD DAY" banner.  Then a backyard canopy, some chairs, a table and finally moved my ICOM-7000 out to this solar powered backyard FD station.

A close friend, Sandra and also my brother Danny, stopped by to help set up and then observed the "Goings-On" for a while.  This was a fun day for all, but especially for me. I especially enjoyed the nighttime operations!  I'm already making plans for a larger solar infrastructure, additional batteries and antennas for 2015.
