It was a pretty much run-of-the-mill VHF contest.  I was operating 6 meters only.  The contest was in its final hours and I was hoping to get one more grid to make it and even 20.  Then around 00:30 UTC, Sunday evening, the band broke wide open and we were treated to a tremendous opening from New England to the deep south.  When finally went QRT at 02:00, I had accumulated 20 more grid squares for a total of 39; a new personal best for me.  I love that Magic Band!
