2015 ARRL Field Day
W4HS, 6A, NC
I'm AA5AZ and I'm the Vice President of the Wayne County Amateur Radio Assn. It's my third Field Day and it is also my second out of three whereas we were berated by rain. Two years ago, we dealt with a tropical depression that lasted 18 of the 24 hours - it was a "no joker!" Last year was extreme heat and humidity and again this year, we dealt with rain, but mixed with dangerous lightening. In fact, our 15 meter station was run by our resident commercial radio technician Rand Weiss, N3JUW who was on call over the weekend and had to leave to repair our local EMS/Police/Fire systems that had a very large lightening strike. Lightening was everywhere! It was dangerous and the best I can estimate, we lost four to five hours of safe operating to lightening.
That being said, early Sunday morning was an incredibly beautiful and cool tempratures prevailed. Most of the 1,100 contact were on Sunday.
