Mount Vernon IA Troop 40 operated JOTA from Camp Waubeek during our annual October Fall Campout.  We were joined by Webelos Scouts from Pack 40 as well.  Using a multi-band wire dipole suspended from two trees, and a TS-440 running from a car battery, we operated all Saturday, contacting 31 stations in 4 different countries, and 30 boys took the opportunity to get on the air.  In the past year, two of our scouts and one other leader have become licensed, and with 2M HTs were able to provide communication during troop activities.  Those participating enjoyed perfect weather, great propagation, and great camaraderie.
As a follow up, the troop will be holding a Mini-Merit Badge University in November for those boys wishing to earn the Radio Merit Badge.
