2015 ARRL September VHF
September was my third VHF contest. I am too new to comment on conditions and activity level.
I operated a total of 29 hours and traveled 980 miles. I operated from 8 states, 3 ARRL divisions, 9 ARRL sections and activated 13 grids.
Like June I started out in Cape Code on the small sliver of FN51 that intersects the cape. It certainly got me the activation multiplier and multiplier for working another local resident in the grid as well as another portable op. I was hoping the grid without much activity might have netted more interest, but folks are so busy at the start of the contest, I am unsure the limited amount of time I can spend in the grid will yield much.
Perhaps I just need to get more word out. Since I am starting op there, it is possible to set up sked for contest start and even do path checks.
Operation was smother this contest in general. The one problem area was my 432MHz rig was acting up with low power and distorted audio. This was by far my weakest band due to these problems.
Overall I felt it was a good outing. I had an improved logging system and that helped quite a bit as June I felt "logging limited".
My QSO count was up as well as multipliers compared to June despite the fact that I didn't get a good 6M opening like in June.
I have much more detail on this as well as my June and January outings on my QRZ page.
