This year, I decided to operate portable from Mount Herman (DM79mb), which happens to be a Summits On The Air summit. Two birds, one stone. January weather is always a risk. On the hike up the mountain, I encountered icy conditions on the trail but not too cold. At the summit, the wind was fierce, so I only operated an hour.
