2016 ARRL Field Day
Operated true 1B in Utah again this year. I ran total solar power with my Elecraft KX3/KXPA100 combination in an extremely remote part of Utah. There is not a town within 40 miles of where I was at and I did not see another soul the entire time, except for an extremely low flying plane that came to check out what I was doing up there.
The bands were a bit rough as few contacts were made above 20m, when I usually have excellent results on 15m. That said, I was able to make over 450 SSB contacts operating solo. Given the crowding on the bands, I was very happy with this result, and the flawless operation of my equipment.
I ran both a portable folding hex beam and an 80m doublet at about 30 feet on military mast. It was a great day!
