2002 ARRL Field Day
25 club members and friends participated in the field day with 8 visitors. We've learned that the more radios you have, the more club members will actually operate them... Seems logical, but it took us a while to realize it! It also increases the number of people to setup and tear down, too...
Of special note: Nick Farlow, Jim Williams, and John Harford worked much of the night on 40m and 20m. Jim logged many CW QSOs.
We had great participation this year with a couple of firsts:
1) Our first beam antenna (tri-band, three element)
2) Our first RTTY QSO
3) 55 Satellite QSOs! (AO-40, FO-29, SO-41)
Next year we are going to separate our operating positions and operate dedicated bands. Up until this year we have operated all the rigs (except for the satellite rig) in a central area.
Every year we have a wonderful barbeque dinner prepared by Don Urban -he absolutely outdid himself this year! Chicken and beef so good that I am wishing I had some, now!
