2016 ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest
This year, I set out to work both weekends full time, my goal was to do better than i have every done, last year I placed 3rd,so I did many hours of plotting out a route,
The first weekend,I would run the central valley of California, starting out on the north and working my way down towards the south trying to get as many calls in the log and working from as many different locations ( grids ),my goal was 17 grids, starting early on Saturday to take advantage of the early morning conditions for long distance
conditions were ok but i have seen much better over the years, completed 166 qso's with the longest being 639KM, this was Saturday morning , so the early conditions payed off, Sunday as i hit my last stop i did 3 contacts and over 900km in just 9min, completed 14grids
Second weekend, running the high desert area just north of Los Angeles, not a large area like the first weekend, and many larger mountains to get over so to get a lot of grids in would take some work planning a route,
Again staring early Saturday morning proved to yelled another long distance 559km, this weekend proved to be a lot more challenging as conditions were very bad for the longer distance contacts, again Sunday as I finished the contests last grid i was able to get another 605km
completed 10 grids 131 qso's
i want to thank all those mountain top stations and rovers who spent the time to work me
