01/02/2017 | HP1IBF Happy New Year 2017 to all and thanks for another wonderfull SKN event. Rig was TS 590S at 100 watts to an inverted V dipole cut for the 20 meter band. In this event I used a HeathKit begginers black plastic straight key -“El Cheapo” kind- that has an easy and sweet “pulse feel” that rivals the most luxurious and expensive keys that are in the market today. Tried my old J-38 key only once, the QSO with AA6E, Martin, but returned to the “feel” of the nice plastic key. It was very glad to find my HP friends Cam, HP1AC, and Ric, HP1RIS, also partcipating in the event. The band conditions where terrible (there was a sun flare of some kind) and notwithstanding, between the holidays commitments and much of the QRN and QSB, we managed some nice contacts. Thanks again for the effort of bringing another SKN and for the great oportunity to participate and enjoy this fine event.
