It was fun to participate in another SKN using a Heathkit HW-8 with a J-45 key on a leg clamp to a CB amplifier.  When I wrote in last year’s Soapbox about my 2016 SKN, I mentioned that I only operated for an hour in the evening because I had to get ready to leave early the next morning, January 1st, for the start of NPOTA where I activated from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.  I did the reverse this year operating NPOTA up until 2359Z on December 31st in the Santa Monica Mountains again to close out this year long event with my 50th activation.  Therefore I was not able to work SKN until later that evening and into Sunday morning.  I have attached no picture this year since I was fortunate to have mine from last year, using the same equipment, published in the December issue of QST for the SKN notice.
