2017 ARRL Field Day
The North Shore Radio Club once again held its Field Day at the Grove Cultural Center area in Lake Forest, IL. We have been there for several years now and pretty much know where we want our tents and antennas to go. We use single band dipole antennas and there are plenty of tall trees around for them. This year the weather was as perfect as it could be, sunny and low 70s. The bands seemed OK, but not great.. Our 3A setup included 2-CW stations, an SSB station, a GOTA station and a VHF station. For once, 6 meters opened up on Sunday morning and that station finally contributed some points. I think the 3A stations each worked over a 1000 contacts and we collected practically all of the available bonus points which included some satellite contacts. The GOTA station was also fairly busy so we should have a pretty good score again this year. Our club's Field Day was well attended by our members and it was especially good to see all of our newer, younger members joining in this year. We are already looking forward to next year.
