01/08/2018 | AD4TT This is my first year ever doing the ARRL Ritty RU and it was totally by accident that I participated this year. Unfortunately for me I came down with the flu just before New Year’s Day so I have been confined to the house. As I was looking around the 40-meter band that Saturday night I heard all of this RTTY activity and decided to see what was going on. I stumbled across the contest so I decided to give it a listen. I have always enjoyed operating RTTY but never get to anymore because of all the new modes so I thought this might be fun to try and make a contact or two. After the first few contacts I was hooked and decided to operate every hour I could during the contest. It’s great to see such a great turn out for this event and my calendar will be marked for this event from now on. I had a blast even with the flu. -- AD4TT
