Getting ready for the SKN event, I took my vintage Heathkit HW-16 out of the closet and dusted off the matching HG-10B VFO and old "Ham Key" straight key (you might remember the bright red plastic finger piece on this trusty key). It was an hour or two before the event and I wanted to fire up this old rig up to make sure all would be ready at 0000UTC.  I answered a CQ from Bill, WB5RYB,  and to my absolute suprise we were both using the same set up, even down to the same windom antennas!  Now I ask you, what are the chances of two 50 year old vintage, novice, tube rigs trading RF in the minutes leading up to SKN?  SKN was a great evening and it had not even started yet!  I got in 7 or 8 SKN QSO's during the contest hours and was happy to be included with others sharing in the fun. The "green machine" held up admirably the entire evening.   Wiley, KG4UPO
