2018 ARRL Field Day

06/27/2018 | W0DK

Another successful Field Day effort is 'in the books' for the Boulder Amateur Radio Club (W0DK) located high above Boulder, Colorado at the beautiful Betasso Preserve. We 'rocked' the band's once again with our 3A effort. Condx weren't spectacular but we still managed to make nearly 2K raw QSOs despite a few 'distractions' during our operation... like a big black bear running through our FD site and a couple of herd of deer casually grazing near our antenna feedlines. We were cut short on operating time towards the end of FD on Sunday by a quick moving thunderstorm which brought wind, rain, lightning and hail which definitely hastened our takedown time.
The excellent Field Day radios and antennas we set up; Our mountainous and scenic Field Day location at 7000+ ft ASL; The BARC members camaraderie; The great food provided to everyone around the clock and the excellent site accommodations, allows those of us that participate at W0DK's annual Field Day operation to experience "Field Day as it is meant to be".
