2018 ARRL 222 MHz and Up Distance Contest
Beautiful Weekend for mountian top fun (CN87km)! There was the typical marine layer as I went up the mountian. Broke through the clouds at about 3000 feet. and it was buaetiful weather from there onwards. The clear skies made for a very efective use of solar charging. The batteries never dropped below 13V the entire contest.
Participation seemed light, but was Seafair weekend in the PNW. here were a good turn out on 1296 and 2304. My logest contect was with W7MEM in DN19mr on 432. Due to transverter issues I was limited to 223.5 FM on 1.25M
There was a little excitment Saturday evening aa wildfire started up on the next ridge over. The Helecopter made a few drops and it looked like the fire was contained by the Time I hit the bunk. In the morning it all seemed clear then about 9:30 ithe fire reflashed the there were two helecopter crews attacking the fire. Since there wwas only an hour left in the contest I descided it best to pack up and head home.
Thanks to all that participated! see you September!
Cheers
Barry
