2009 Field Day was a great success. We ran 2A - Commercial with a dedicated VHF station on for the whole 24 hour period. We ended up making close to 600 contacts using nothing more than two barefoot Icom 756 Pro II and delta loops for 20 and 40m, 80m... Read More

    First Weekend

Sunny and hot is the best way to describe the first weekend of the contest in New England. Conditions? Well, regardless of propagation I define conditions in terms of people. We had what seemed like more people than we did last year. I gu... Read More

Rain showers passed through the MN/IA/WI area... Read More

My first microwave contest and I sure had fun the first weekend! Longest QSO was 290.6 Km which I don't think is too bad for a 10 GHz transverter I built from the DEMI kit with 2W (external amp) out and a NF of 3.5 dB. Read More

The South West Iowa Amateur Radio Club (SWIARC), based out of Council Bluffs, Iowa; had a spectacular year this year. Approximately 60 people participated (mostly because of dinner on Saturday) and assisted in running the HUGE 9A station. We made exa... Read More

  • None of these Rover-to-Rover QSO's were orchestrated. And none of them were at trivial distances. Guess what I think of grid-circling.

Had a great time! Set a personal record for the UHF contest. I did these same 8 grids in '05, '06, and '07. This time activity levels were GOOD! Conditions only popped to the "good" range in one brief period near the end.

I'm still finishing getting... Read More
