  • My kids really like to see maps showing stations I've worked. They like coloring them in too. It's helped them get interested in radio. They even know how to use my paddle/keyer to send CW!

Enjoyed working the contest, especially on Friday night. Who says 10 is dead? Not me - until Saturday and Sunday - UGH! Worked 20 states (18 on Friday night, 2 on Saturday night), all SSB. Need to start doing CW in contests if I'm going to up my sc... Read More

I have recently decided to dabble more seriously in contesting. I found this one pretty challenging!

    S&P, 100W, CW only.

Weren't all that many I could work, even with 5 el at 80'. Sure kept the rotor going, I'll say that much.

I chose to sit this out out, got on for 30 minutes on Sunday noon to work the locals... and that's exactly all I worked, too, locals.

A far cry from the sunspot peak when the entire world was on all at once. It's coming back, just wait. Read More

I spent a couple of hours at the contest station of Tom N6AJR on Saturday night and worked most states west of the Mississippi. I could hear lots of stations on the east coast, but they could not hear me. Had fun with a friend for a couple of hours t... Read More

I got lots of Christmas tree decorating done during the contest. Had a sandwich too. Occassionally I worked stations no more than 200 miles away at best and only if my antenna was pointed at them. 10 meters was about as small of a box to work in as ... Read More

I was as prepared as I could be. Comfortable chair, multiple sharpened pencils, pad of paper, food in the fridge, wood by the stove. It was 0000UTC and I flipped the switch firing up the Yaesu FT101EE. CQ..CQ.. nothing. No output! Retuned...still nothi... Read More

This was worst I've ever heard 10M CDX during contest weekend. Many times I'd hear stations try to answer my CQ's, only to have the path snap closed; vice versa when I tried to answer CQ's. All the effort of my vertical antenna yielded a practically ho... Read More
