Key dates within the event: August 15, 1957 — Governor George Leader ordered State Police to Levittown. August 20, 1957 — commonly cited as the date the family became the first African American residents. August 26, 1957 — protesters dispersed and the State Police withdrew. WWW.PENNWIRELESS.ORG
