Disruptions Possible as ARRL Reconfigures Internet Services

07/05/2012

Beginning Friday, July 6 at approximately 1 PM (EDT), the ARRL’s Information Technology Department will be changing the configuration of the League’s Internet services. This will involve Domain Name System (DNS) address changes for a variety of servers at ARRL Headquarters. According to ARRL Information Technology Manager Michael Keane, K1MK, there may be some short, intermittent interruptions of service. “This depends primarily on how quickly the changes to the DNS address records are populated throughout the Internet,” he explained. “There could be short delays in posting and receiving messages to/from the ARRL reflectors. If there is an interruption, all messages will be stored in a queue until service is restored. There may be other short disruptions involving servers for Logbook of The World (LoTW) and the ARRL Periodicals Archive, but they should be short, if they exist at all.”
