    01/22/2008 | N3ALN

This was my third ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes and I spent some time to see in the past where I needed to improve.

My goal was to get a radio with a better receiver and add more bands. On 2m and 70cm I was using an Icom 706MKIIG and I ended up selling... Read More

I operated high power this year for the first time thanks to a new to me Alpha 78. What a difference QRO makes! Next year I plan to add a couple of receiving antennas as well. Although not as good as I hoped to do, it was still fun to work the gang on ... Read More

....ARGH .... That is my first thought when I reflect back on this contest. Well below zero temps, low humidity and other unknown factors combined to produce terrible conditions. The cold temps, poor conditions and the football playoffs in turn created... Read More

An unusual operating style led to an all-time high (for me) of 61 multipliers on 2m, more than half of which came from random EME QSOs using JT65. My log includes DXCC prefixes W, VE, RU, UA9, S5, OH, DL, HA, G, OZ, YU, F, I, EA, OK, PJ4, and SV. Rov... Read More

    01/21/2008 | K2QO/R

Another January Sweeps is in the bag and the K2QO rover team (K2QO + W2TAU) has done it again. Our score was down from the last few years. The auditors are off today due to the holiday so our 88884 points is only a guess for now.

We spent a lot of ti... Read More
