We had just moved into our new home in Lawrence, KS and no antennas up yet. So I set up portable. A nice sunny warm fall afternoon here in the midwest. Ran my old MFJ-9406 and a dipole I threw together out of wooden dowel rods and wires out in a field ... Read More

Well, Tom (KB2SSS) and I did have a lot of fun in spite of the weather and some problems. We decided we would try to hand out some rarer grids this time. So instead of our usual FN21 and FN31 which couldn't be less rare, we went to FN35 and FN34. We... Read More

• It's amazing how hilltops attract ham radio operators during the 10 GHz contest. While we were on Signal Peak in Orange County, two other carloads of hams showed up, resulting
in this mini-convention. Shown here are (from left): W6XD (standing), N6DN (leaning over his equipment), N9RIN (in the background) and AD6HT. I'm behind the camera. Also not in the photo was WA6CDR, who was nearby with his portable six-foot dish.

Certainly the highlight of the 2007 10 GHz and Up
Contest for Southern Californians was the big
signals rolling in from Mexico--from places w-a-y
down the Baja Peninsula.

With 4C2WH (WB6CWN) operating from DL34, and with
a good coastal inversion, t... Read More
