I used the same J-44 key that I used in 1967 as WN3FNT in Greenville, PA as a 15 year old teenage Novice running then an Eico 720 Transmitter and Hallicrafters SX-99 Receiver. The world of ham radio sure has changed since then. My old fist sure wasn't ... Read More

SDR 1000, 40M Inverted Vee used on 160M shorting coax in shack and loading as random wire with tuner.

After almost 40 years as a ham, I had a good time on 160M.
I had only made 6 contacts on 160M before the 125 QSOs I made overnight in this contest.

  • Was pleased that it was only a "bit" more time to add the second 2 meter beam and how well the stack worked out. I have tried the longer boom single yagi's from this location, but the wind and turning radius issues became a problem

Well, late posting, but what a wonderful wrap to the 2006 VHF Contesting Arena.

Weather was great, no winds to speak of this time around for set up or teardown (Unlike all of my January Contests from this location).

Limited work on the bands above 2304... Read More

I always found New Year's Eve quite boring...until I found out about SKN! I managed to put together a "key" to use with my K2. Basically a plastic ruler, foam insulation, two pennies, and aluminum foil duct-taped to an old CD-ROM drive. How's that for ... Read More
