SB QST ARL ARLB089
ARLB089 FCC lifts restrictions on use of 7290 and 3935 kHz

At the request of ARRL South Texas Section Manager Ray Taylor,
N5NAV, the FCC has lifted restrictions on the use of 7290 and 3935
kHz. The frequencies had been used for handling health-and-welfare
traffic during the recent flooding in several Texas communities.

The FCC says that a voluntary communications emergency remains in
effect for 7285 and 3873 kHz for the handling of emergency traffic.
The frequencies are to be cleared within 3 kHz on either side. The
FCC's Houston Resident Agent Oliver Long has asked all amateurs to
cooperate by recognizing the communications emergency and
relinquishing the use of 7285 and 3873 kHz between 8 AM and 6 PM
Central Time.
