Amateur Radio is scheduled to be demonstrated Friday morning, June
23, on the ''Breakfast Time'' program on the fX cable television
network.
 
ARRL-registered teacher Lew Malchick, N2RQ, from Brooklyn Technical
High School, and students from several New York City schools, will
use a set-up in Madison Square Park to make live contacts.
Following that, ARRL Headquarters staffers Jennifer Hagy, N1TDY, and
Bob Inderbitzen, NQ1R, will be on hand to answer questions from the
show's host.
 
''Breakfast Time'' is a two-hour show aimed at the young adult
audience. It runs from 7 to 9 AM Eastern time.  The Amateur Radio
segment is expected to last about eight minutes, in several parts.
 
Space shuttle mission STS-71 is scheduled to be launched the same
day, in the afternoon, and will be mentioned on the show.  STS-71 is
scheduled to feature both Shuttle Amateur Radio Experiment (SAREX)
activities and a first-ever docking with the Russian Mir space
station.
