Read these guidelines for Information and instructions for conducting ARRL Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (AREC) training program field exams:  Information and Instructions for ARRL AREC Field Examiners

With the re-launch of field instruction and field exams for this program , please be sure to: 

  • Destroy all previous forms and test booklets
  • Review the revised instructions provided here
  • Note some important changes: 

(1) You must pre-register your exam session.

(2) an Amateur Radio license is no longer required to sit for the EC-001 exam,

(3) EC-001 examinees must document that they have completed the two FEMA course pre-requisites.

    Order current exam booklets and get other forms needed to conduct an exam session.

    Please note that exam kits must be ordered from the ARRL Continuing Education Program at least 2 weeks in advance of an exam session.  Currently exams for  EC-001 Introduction to Emergency Communication are offered in the field.
