Description:

The PVARC covers public service, DXing, experimentation, and enjoying all aspects of amateur radio.  The club has interesting speakers at its monthly meetings (visitors always welcome) and encourages its members to participate in the five annual public service activities where we provide communication services.  Many PVARC members belong to one of the many city-sponsored disaster amateur radio services, the Los Angeles County Disaster Communications Service overseen by the Sheriff's Department, or the ARRL's ARES.

The PVARC offers free Technician and General Class license classes four times annually at Hesse Park.  Additional on-site license classes have been provided to employees of local school districts and hospitals.

Two unusual activities each year are an Islands on the Air DXpedition to Two Harbors on Catalina Island in February and activating the Pt. Vicente Lighthouse for International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend in August.

We also communicate with all members through our monthly QRO newsletters and our emailed Weekly Bulletins.
