Description:

The Washington Area Amateur Radio Club was formed in December 2002 with our first meeting in January 2003. We are a 501.c.3 Non-profit organization and are incorporated.

We are a general purpose club that is very active all year long. We participate in Winter Field Day, ARRL Field Day, local special events and functions. With our fully equipped Emergency Communications trailer (which we share with Washington Co. ARES) we practice and hone our communication skills and have fun at the same time!

We meet at 7PM the third Thursday of each month at the Washington Public Library and host several programs a year where we can learn more about the many facets of our hobby.

We enjoy a yearly picnic where we have a hidden transmitter hunt (Foxhunt).

We hold a weekly net Monday nights along with the local ARES group which hosts two nets.

We  have several repeaters. They are all Yaesu System Fusion analog/digital set up for both modes. A two meter and a UHF repeater that are at the same site. The two meter is connected to the AB0DX Echolink node.

We have a UHF YSF also that is installed in our communication trailer.

We host Amateur radio licensing exams every other month at the library.

We co-sponsor the Southeast Iowa Hamfest at West Liberty, Iowa the first Sunday in October which supports our club financially.

We provide mentoring to new hams and help members with thier equipment.

 Visitors always welcome!
