Upcoming Contests - Things to Do

The IARU HF World Championship occurs this weekend, beginning at 1200 UTC on Saturday, July 9 and concluding at 1159 UTC on Sunday, July 10. Participants can enter in CW, SSB, or mixed mode categories. The exchange is a signal report and your ITU zone. ITU zones for stations in the Lower 48 are 6, 7, or 8. ITU zones for Canadian stations are 2, 3, 4, or 9. For rules and other information, please visit arrl.org/iaru-hf-world-championship.

For VHF enthusiasts, the CQ World Wide VHF Contest is coming up next weekend, starting at 1800 UTC on Saturday, July 16 and running through 2100 UTC on Sunday, July 17. The event is open to amateurs around the world using the 6- and 2-meter bands. Complete rules are available at www.cqww-vhf.com/.

Also, next weekend is the first of three mode-based summer North American QSO Parties (NAQPs). The NAQP RTTY contest starts at 1800 UTC on Saturday, July 16, and concludes 12 hours later at 0559 UTC, Sunday, July 17. See the rules page at ncjweb.com/naqp/ for more information.

Bulletins

Mark Aaker, K6UFO, reminds us that in addition to the North American QSO Party (NAQP) RTTY contest on July 16, there are CW and SSB events occurring later this summer. The NAQP CW contest will be held on August 6, followed by the NAQP SSB contest on August 20.

The NAQP contests are fun, friendly, and fast. The exchange is your name and state (or province or DXCC entity). NAQP events begin on Saturday afternoons at 1800 UTC, and last for 12 hours. Single-operator stations may operate up to 10 of the 12 hours.

New this year is the Assisted Category for single-operator participants, with lots of new state and province records waiting to be claimed! Rules, results, and records are available on the National Contest Journal website at ncjweb.com/naqp/.
