This was my first Kids Day, and I had a blast! (I'm 16, but I guess I'm still a kid.) I made about 10 contacts, several of them licensed kids. I got my younger brother on the air too, and he made a few contacts. I hope this contest has introduced lots of young people to the joys of ham radio. Can't wait for next time!

I managed to get my son, Alan, to make three QSOs with established hams who were all very cordial. Conditions were not very good around 18Z, but we made some noise on 40 meters and got several responses. One of the things I'll bet my son learned from this experience is that hams tend to have many interests. We had chats about speed records at the Bonneville salt flats, celebrating birthdays, geography lessons. One can have fascinating conversations with people all over the world on subjects that range far from radio and electronics.

This is the first time we got the chance to participate and promote the Kids Day from Imperial Valley EOC facility at Heber, CA; Our ARES/RACES Station W6ICR.
The Future Hams who operate this time were Kevin Teran, KI6YAA's 13 years Old son, Aaron Jaime, Kevin's classmate and also 13 years old, and Luis Alberto, my 9 years old son. They showed a lot of interest to communicate with other persons using the radio and wanted to learn how was that possible.
During the hours of the event we looked to give the basic of the HF radio communication skills to the kids first hand by catching calls on the air and calling CQ to receive an answer from other participants and hams who gave them a short QSO and shared their experience.
We want to give thanks to all those who fight the small signal we had and continued the QSO with our kids; and especially to those who provided support to have this chance, Rosa Hernandez from EOS, Dennis Ambrose WB6CGJ, and Bruce N7TY.
