I am trying to locate information or studies about aging in copper wire antennas and aluminum antenna elements. We all know that mother nature affects our antennas over time and companies like the Wireman advertize “Silky” wire claiming that the insulation has no more effect than a year’s aging on a copper wire antennas. Researching the internet and going through my RF engineering books has not yielded any results.
What I am trying to do is make a presentation on why antenna maintenance is important and possibly write an article on it as well. Any real world studies on coax degradation with expose to the elements would also be good to add into this presentation. This presentation would be dealing with HF antennas and VHF/UHF antennas only. I do not care if the sources are magazine articles or engineering reports and books. Ideally I would like to show the db signal loss over time in both copper and aluminum elements.
