I've noticed considerable difference in the volume of various operators. I think that it may have a lot to do with microphone technique, but some seem to have that raspy over driven sound which reminds me of my old CB radio days. I'm one to operate casually and I haven't been on any net's, but there is a net on which the net control operator's volume is so low compared to the other operators that he can barely be heard. I ask for constructive criticism about my audio and wish that others would do so more often. It would be good I think if VHF/UHF fm mobile radio's had a feature that would give some kind of visual indication to the operator about the volume level of the audio when transmitting, but some of them don't even have a gain control of any kind to begin with.
