Best Non-Radial Verticals

Like many, I don't have an optimum antenna situation. To make a long story short, I'm wondering how well the rather expensive non-radial multi-band verticals from Hy-Gain and other manufacturers work; how much of a compromise they are versus say separate dipoles. And do any stand out from the pack?

(When I say "non-radial" I mean that they seem to have their own, truncated radials rather than 1/4 wave "external" radials.)

I would be grateful for any thoughts.

Thanks,

Paul

I'm partial to Zerofive Antennas because for the investment they are built to superior quality standards and efficient. Best bang for the buck when it comes to vertical ham antennas in my personal opinion. They are built by Tom Leakakos, N9ZV.
