I've always used an old fashioned cheapo key. I recently bought a cheapo single paddle key with a leg mount and I was surprised to learn tha left give a series of "dah" anf the right a series of dits. I kind of like it once I got used to it, but here's the thibg - is it no longer a "straight key" so i can no longer use it with the straight key century club?

I believe if the "key" makes a series of automatic dots and dashes it is not considered a straight key however there are exemptions that may apply in your case. Check their web site for more information.
